Are you excited about the upcoming ASC camps during the September/October school holidays? Well we are too! So, to add to the excitement, we thought we’d share the names of some of the ASC Heroes attending our camps around Australia… We are pleased to welcome back many long-serving ASC coaches, as well as some fresh new faces. We look forward to having everyone on board, and thank the coaches for the time and effort they put in to provide great coaching at our camps.
Basketball
VIC: If you hadn’t heard, we’re running basketball coaching camps in Victoria again for the first time in a long time! Yeah! And we can now confirm that former NBL champion, Stephen Hoare, will be on hand to run the program at the Canterbury Basketball Camp. Stephen is one of the most decorated players the NBL has seen, winning two NBL Championships as a starter with the Melbourne Tigers in 2006 and 2008, with two more grand final appearances in 2007 and 2009. Stephen is a two-time winner of the NBL Sixth Man of the Year award (for best player starting off the bench) and an NBL All-Star in 2004-2005. Great to have you on board, Stephen!
Netball
VIC: Current Adelaide Thunderbirds co-captain and Aussie Diamonds player, Sharni Layton returns to home state Victoria whilst she recovers from shoulder surgery to coach at the North Balwyn Netball Camp. Sharni has been a national player since 2010 and is renowned for her intensity as a defender and her team-oriented approach. Sharni is looking forward to attending the Boroondara camp and working with participants to improve their skills for the full three days of the camp! Joining Sharni at the North Balwyn camp, and also attending the Essendon Netball Camp, is ASC favourite and Australian netballing legend, Bianca Chatfield. If you haven’t heard of Bianca as a player, well… you’ve been living under a rock! But what you may not have heard is that, off the court, Bianca is also a really awesome coach! So make sure to get along to one of our Victorian netball camps to gain some professional coaching tips from Bianca. Football
VIC: It’s certainly true that not everyone is a Collingwood supporter… But you don’t have to be one-eyed to recognise Tony Shaw as a great Australian footballer. Tony captained the Magpies to a premiership in 1990 with a Norm Smith-winning performance of 35 touches, and we are pleased to have him heading the program at our Brighton Football Camp. … Camps are starting in Victoria next week, so book online now to make sure you don’t miss out on all the great coaching, fun and excitement! Hope to see you at one of our camps soon!
