ASC Summer Camps January News

Australian Sports Camps conclude our summer camp run today as our fantastic Canberra camp participants apply what they have learned in basketball, cricket, soccer and netball in match play in their final day. With our affiliate Tasmanian Sports Camps running their soccer and cricket programs next week our group summer schedule comes to 48 magnificent camps. It has been incredible to see the improvement in our participants in each camp! And the fun that they have been having with our star coaches developing their skills! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our amazing coaches for their efforts across Australia for teaching our participants! And we're looking forward to seeing many of them and many of you in April or this time next year! Along with our December coaches (which can be seen at our blog here) we have been grateful to have with us this January:

Cricket

Cricket – Our participants have enjoyed great coaching nationwide. In NSW, we have had former test opener Stuart Clark along with Moises Henriques and Kurtis Patterson! While Doug Walters came along to our Hunters Hill program and also to our Canberra Grammar program in ACT. At Trinity Bulleen in VIC we enjoyed work with Renegades coach Simon Helmot! Along with former test players Dean Jones, Rodney Hogg, Ray Bright, former Olympic Australian pitcher Grant Weir and Melbourne Stars player Alex Keath. The TAS cricket camp next week will have Hurricane Jonathan Wells along! While SA this week had Tom Cooper along with former Redback Chris Harms. Our biggest cricket program nationwide, the 20th Justin Langer Cricket Camp had a multitude of stars attend. Alongside Justin attending each day our participants got to meet WA Warriors and Perth Scorchers Michael Carberry, Adam Voges, Yasir Arafat, John Rogers, Joel Paris, Matt Dixon, Sam Whiteman, Andrew Tye, Hilton Cartwright, Marcus Harris as well as former test pace bowler Terry Alderman.

Netball

Netball – Enthusiastic netballers across the country have enjoyed coaching from talented professionals. Our WA January program had our attendees work with star Australian Diamond shooter Caitlin Bassett! While our SA girls worked with Thunderbird Kate Shimmin! Vixens Bianca Chatfield, Liz Watson and Joanna Weston took part in VIC! While English hall of famer Sonia Mkoloma in NSW and Firebird Gretel Tippett in QLD helped push our participants to improve their game.

Basketball

Basketball – NBA veteran Bruce Bolden relayed his skills and experience in NSW while Lucas Walker and Stephen Hoare were involved in our Brighton and North Balwyn VIC programs. AFL Football and our other pre-season programs - We enjoyed working with Harry Taylor in VIC football and Rodrigo Vargas in soccer with experienced panels across the nation in these sports and tennis. Our participants worked closely with our coaches in the program, enjoying feedback through coaches reports and our video skill sessions. Keep working hard everyone to apply what you have learned! We are planning our Autumn school holiday camp run as we speak! There are camps in a wide variety of sports in your state. Keep your skills sharp moving into the winter sports season.
