An AIS scholarship holder, Richard Fromberg began playing tennis for the young age of 10, and turned professional as an 18 year old. Soon after, he won his first singles title. Across his 17 year professional career he won four singles titles (1990 ATP Bologna Outdoor, 1990 Swedish Open, 1991 Wellington Classic, 1997 BRD Năstase Țiriac Trophy) and two doubles titles (1990 OTB Open and 1997 Austrian Open). Fromberg reached a career peak ranking of 24th in August 1990 and across his career accumulated over US$2.6M in prize money. Fromberg has been a regular supporter of ASC Tennis camps and can be found passing on his knowledge at the programs in Victoria.
