Kara Richards is a talented Victorian Netball defender. Starting her netball career at age 9, Kara has represented Victoria in every age group, starting at under 16’s School Girls level, then to 17/U, 19/U and 21/U State Teams over the years. As well as representing Victoria, Kara has also been selected for the Australian Squad in each of these age groups. At the age of 20, Kara received a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) where she spent a year playing in the Australian Netball League (ANL). In 2009 Kara returned to play for Victoria Fury in the ANL before being selected by the Melbourne Vixens in 2010 for the ANZ Championship. In 2011 Kara headed across to the Adelaide Thunderbirds to play in the ANZ Trans-Tasman competition. 2012 saw Kara return home to the Melbourne Vixens. Kara is an accomplished coach and regularly runs programs for Australian Sports Camps.
