ASC TALENT PROFILES

 

Rory Sloane is a tough midfielder who has come to the fore as one of the AFL’s elite players.  He debuted with Adelaide in Round 20, 2009 against Hawthorn.  A well-liked and respected player by the media, Sloane has developed into the key figure in the Adelaide Crows midfield, polling second in the Brownlow in 2016 and gaining ‘All-Australian’ selection.

Rory won the Malcolm Blight Medal for Adelaide Best and Fairest in 2013 and 2016, and was named as acting co-captain with Patrick Dangerfield in 2014 after skipper Nathan Van Berlo went down with injury in the pre-season. He also won a Showdown Medal in 2017. In 2019, Sloane was appointed as co-captain of Adelaide, and in 2020 assumed the sole captaincy.  He is a hard-tackling, functional midfielder who enjoys playing hard, tough football.
