In ASC Heroes by Kyle Chandler

James Faulkner is an all-rounder who currently plays at first-class and one-day level for Tasmania, and for the Melbourne Stars in the T/20 Big Bash League.  At just 22, Faulkner has already established himself with both the bat and the ball at first class level; accumulating almost 1000 runs and taking over 100 wickets.

James debuted soon after his 18th birthday, and is currently enjoying his fourth year with the Tasmanian team, where his form is undeniable- recently taking 5/23 against South Australia in just the fourth match of the 2012/13 season.  He made his international T20 debut for Australia in February 2012 against India.  Despite his age, Faulkner is not over-awed on the big stage, having taken four wickets and made an impressive 71 runs in the 2011 Sheffield Shield final.  He was named Man of the Match in the 2012-13 Sheffield Shield final, and again in 2015 World Cup Cricket final.

James currently holds the record for the fastest century by an Australian batsman in a one-day international, with his 116 from 57 balls against India in Bangalore in 2013.  In 2012-13, he won his third consecutive Ricky Ponting medal.

James also played beside long-time ASC Hero Brad Hodge in the Melbourne Stars team, and is looking forward to imparting his enthusiasm and knowledge during the Hobart Cricket Camp in January 2013.
