This Summer, Justin Langer is returning once again to coach at our 2018 cricket camps. For over 20 years, Australian Sports Camps has been fortunate to have Justin Langer present each day at our cricket camps, at Hale School, Wembley Downs.
Renowned for his incredible batting skills, Langer is considered one of the most successful top-order batsmen in cricket history. Representing Australia in 105 test matches, he amassed 7,696 runs at average of 45.27 runs per game, including 23 test centuries over 14 years. His career achievement totalled 28,382 first class runs at an average of 50.23runs per game including 86 centuries. Justin Langer remains the current senior coach of Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers at national level and is now forging an outstanding record as arguably Australia’s best cricket coach.
All our participants will meet Justin and work with him and experienced coaches to improve their cricket skills and technique. The camp is excellent for experienced players up to the age of 16 to fine tune their skills, and for beginners as young as 6. Many of our attendees return each school holidays, making this camp perfect for making fellow cricket fanatic friends.

The Venue – Hale School
Hale School is situated in the heart of the northern suburbs, only 10km from the CBD and 2km from the coast. The impressive campus spans 48 hectares and is equipped with outstanding sporting facilities, including:
- 5 cricket grounds, all with turf wickets
- 12 turf practice wickets
- 11 synthetic cricket practice wickets
- Cricket bowling machine alley
- 2 multi-purpose gymnasiums
- 16 turf nets with an additional block of 4 turf nets on the main oval
Enrolment will be at the cricket pavilion on the main oval, enter via the main gates off Hale Road and follow the road around to the pavilion. To assist in pick up and drop offs and to handle the traffic better, we will have a one-way traffic flow with entry from Hale Road and exit out past the cricket pavilion and centre wickets to the street at the side of the school, i.e. no exit via Hale Road. Alternatively, you may park in Cobb Street and walk across the ovals to the pavilion.
What to Bring
- Comfortable Cricket wear – Whites are not compulsory, and children should wear something they feel comfortable playing in, i.e. shorts or long trousers. Rubber soled shoes should be worn, and children should bring a hat and sunscreen.
- Cricket gear – We do provide some cricket gear. However, your child will receive the most benefit from practising with their own equipment if they own it. They should bring their own clearly named bat, protector, helmet and any other gear they may have.
- Drink bottle- Drinks are provided daily and water is available to all kids.
- Lunch – Please bring a packed lunch in a clearly labelled lunch box, but keep in mind ASC has a strict nut free policy.
ASC also provides fruit and drinks throughout each of the days. Some things you might want to keep in mind are making sure their lunch, clothes and all their belongings are clearly labelled with their name. We recommend avoiding bringing items that you wouldn’t want to get dirty, damaged or lost and these items include valuables, electronics and jewellery.
Spending money is not required and lollies and chewing gum should be avoided.

Justin Langer’s extensive coaching and playing experience makes this camp perfect for experienced players looking to maximise their skills and become the best cricket player they can be.
We also cater to young and inexperienced players with our specialised skill development training, which gives kids players a taste of different positions and allows them to develop skills across all areas. Because they aren’t pigeon holed in one position, kids strengthen their abilities in all areas, meaning they are less likely to get bored and frustrated, causing them to lose interest in the game.
Also, it also allows the children to learn from each other. ASC allows kids to try different player positions and learn skills without the pressure of a real competition. That way, if they choose to join a club in the future they have the experience behind them to know where they are best suited.
We have a wide range of training drills and exercises spread out across three days.
We also use state of the art digital video coaching software and provide you and your child with a unique written report from their coach at the end of the camp. This helps children work out where their strengths lie, and what areas need extra attention for fast improvement.
Working alongside Justin Langer, we only employ coaches with a minimum Level 1 coaching qualification as well as senior coaching staff with years of experience. Our overall group coach to participant ratio is 1:10 to ensure your child receives the individual attention they require. In addition, our camps also feature guest appearances from leading cricket players, to deliver top level training for participants, and the chance for kids to meet their sporting idols.
