ASC TALENT PROFILES

 

Andrew Smith had been involved with the Kookaburra’s team since 2002 and has played a total of 114 international games and scored 42 international goals as an attacking forward.  He made his international debut against India in Adelaide and scored his first goal in front of his home crowd against Korea in the 4-Nations Tournament in Melbourne.

Andrew is most known after topping the goal scorer’s list – with 23 – during a sensational Australian Hockey League campaign in 2002 and has consistently been on top of the Australian Hockey League goal scorers.  A powerful and imposing striker who possesses one of the most damaging penalty corner flicks in the Australian team.

In 2016, after 18 months as captain and 8 years with Hockey Australia, he made the decision to stand down and return to his family in England.

Andrew has attended the Melbourne hockey camps teaching the next generation of hockey players.
